30 years of the Summer Academy

30 years of the Radolfzell International Summer Academy: The Radolfzell Music School’s musical flagship is celebrating a milestone birthday this year! Music lovers can once again look forward to wonderful concerts by young talents and their professors. It starts with the opening concert on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 7.15 pm in the Milchwerk, which is traditionally opened by the lecturers of the International Summer Academy.

After long-time piano teacher Carmen Piazzini bid farewell to the Radolfzell stage in April with a brilliant concert, the internationally renowned Prof. Florian Wiek will take over the piano class this summer.
The world-renowned musicians and university professors Anke Dill and Gustav Rivinius will continue to supervise the master classes for violin and cello.

During the daily master classes in the week following the opening concert, interested visitors can follow the students’ development at close quarters.
During rehearsals, they can experience how technique is fine-tuned or how different approaches to a piece of music are discussed.
The results of these efforts can then literally be heard: The young course participants present their musical skills at a series of concerts in the open air and in the Milchwerk.
The highlight of the Summer Academy is the final concert and award ceremony on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 7.15 pm in the Milchwerk Radolfzell.

Conducting master class

The masterclasses for piano, violin and cello will be followed in September by the conducting masterclass under the direction of Zurich professor Johannes Schlaefli.
In this second part of the Summer Academy, which was offered for the first time in 2016, six selected conductors are given the opportunity to work on a highly demanding concert program with the Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra of Constance and then present it together on stage in the large hall of the Milchwerk.
